MWR4x4 1st-Gen hybrid VNT with big-neck compressor and vacuum actuator. Bolt-on for VNT-equipped 1HD-FTE; adaptation kit required on fixed-geometry HDJ100 and on HDJ80.
The MWR4x4 1st-Gen Hybrid Variable-Geometry (VNT/VGT) Turbo is a reinforced, big-neck upgrade for Toyota 4.2-liter diesels (1HDT / 1HDFT / 1HDFTE) on HDJ80 and HDJ100. It uses a vacuum actuator for precise vane control and fast response. On trucks that already run VNT (1HD-FTE) it’s a straightforward bolt-on; HDJ100 with fixed-geometry and HDJ80 require the adaptation kit (oil/water line conversion, boost control hardware).
MWR positions this turbo as a reliable, responsive upgrade that pairs well with intercooler and exhaust improvements; for higher boost targets on 1HD-FTE, plan a MAP clamp/emulator (EMUMAP) to avoid ECU over-boost protection. (See related products on MWR site.)
Exhaust and intake housings precision-ported to maximize gas flow and significantly reduce operating temperatures. This hybrid configuration enhances turbo response, increases volumetric efficiency, and delivers greater power across the entire RPM range. First-generation VNT design with big-neck geometry and vacuum actuation, engineered for Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ80 / HDJ100 platforms (1HDT, 1HDFT, 1HDFTE engines). Purpose-built for serious off-road performance without compromising engine reliability.
Hybrid VNT/VGT turbocharger with vacuum actuator for crisp, low-lag control
Big-neck compressor inlet for high flow.
Direct fit for VNT 1HD-FTE; adaptation kit required for non-VNT HDJ100 and HDJ80.
SPECS
Vehicles: Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ80 & HDJ100 Engines: 1HDT / 1HDFT / 1HDFTE (4.2L) Notes: 1HD-FTE (HDJ100): bolt-on VNT; for >~1.0 bar MAP, use EMUMAP to prevent ECU limp. HDJ100 FG (fixed-geometry) & HDJ80: require adaptation kit (oil/water lines for VNT and boost control valve).
